Guwahati, 01 November (HS): Mr. Noriaki Abe, Minister (Political) at the Embassy of Japan, visited the State Headquarters of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Assam on Saturday and held an interactive session with the party’s spokespersons.
The session began with a warm Assamese welcome extended by Mr. Kishore Upadhyay, Chief Spokesperson of the BJP, Assam Pradesh, who felicitated Mr. Abe with a traditional Jaapi, Gamosa, and Cheleng—symbols of Assamese hospitality and honour.
During the interaction, Mr. Abe emphasized the importance of continued cooperation and partnership between India and Japan as friendly nations, highlighting opportunities for mutual development and exchange.
Expressing concern over Japan’s declining population, Mr. Abe said it has created a significant demand for skilled youth in Japan. He noted that educated Indian youth, particularly from Assam, have immense potential to contribute in sectors such as healthcare, hospitality and emergency management.
Abe appreciated the Assam Government’s initiative to provide Japanese language training to educated unemployed youth, saying it would help them secure employment opportunities in Japan. He also lauded the quality and global reputation of Assam tea, remarking that Japan too is taking steps to enhance its own tea cultivation practices.
On his third visit to Assam, Abe expressed admiration for the state’s natural beauty and cultural richness. The session concluded with BJP spokespersons and media panelists expressing heartfelt gratitude for the opportunity to engage in a meaningful dialogue with the distinguished guest.---------
