Corrected...If poll survey is real indicator, Jeremy Corbyn to become next British PM
LONDON/New Delhi, Apr. 14 (HS): Britain''s main opposition Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn may win the keys to 10 Downing Street if general election is held today, a major polling analysis indicated it. As per survey, prime minister Theresa May''s party Conservatives may lose 59 seats in the House of Commons, paving the way for left-wing leader Corbyn to become prime minister, a poll survey published by the Sunday Telegraph says it. Even, Labour may increase its tally by 34 MPs bringing them to forefront in the British parliament. Meanwhile, Conservative supporters are, themselves, claiming that their support is falling among voters due to May''s failure to take Britain out of the European Union (EU) by March 29. Prof. John Curtice who is specialiszd in election survey associated with Strathcylde University and also also the president of the British Polling Council, said supporters who backed leaving the EU had been drawn back to either the euro-sceptic UK Independence Party (UKIP) or the newly launched Brexit party, created by UKIP co-founder Nigel Farage. An Electoral calculation that surveyed 8,561 people found that if general election is held immediately, Labour would clear the mandate in in the Commons. It would at least win 296 seats of the 650 parliamentary seats, against 259 for the Conservatives. Corbyn could then lead a government supported by the Scottish Nationalist Party (SNP) which is also expected to do well in a general election. Meanwhile, Martin Baxter from Electoral Calculus, an institute doing poll survey told the Sunday Telegraph, \"Theresa May is discovering why David Cameron really held the referendum. It wasn''t to placate his own Eurosceptic MPs, instead it was to stop Conservative voters defecting to pro-Brexit parties. That process seems to have restarted and the Conservatives are beginning to suffer.\" At the time, a newspaper from London, Observer reported that the latest opinion poll predicted the Conservatives had dropped six points over the past fortnight, giving Labour a seven-point lead. May''s party has lowest support since the European elections in May 2014, pollsters said. However, May also told her MPs last month that she would stand down once she had secured the UK''s exit from the EU. Even, former Conservative leader Iain Duncan Smith called Sunday on May to resign as prime minister next month. \"What the Prime Minister has to do is aim everything now towards departure before the European elections which would then allow her to step away having done what she said she would do, getting the UK out of the European Union one way or the other and then we can have another leadership election and pick a new leader,\" he told a media house.
