Seven died in a road accident in South Bengal
Suri(Birbhum)/ Kolkata, Apr.12(HS): All the seven passengers of a private vehicle were killed after it collided head on with a loaded truck from the opposite direction on the National Highway at Mohammad Bazar area in Birbhum district today. According to reports reaching the state police headquarters here this evening, the driver of the car, which was travelling at high speed,failed to control the vehicle on the highway and collided with the truck killing all the passengers on the spot. Though local people rushed to the spot after hearing the sound of the collision,they found all the victims lay in pool of blood and in serious condition. But when they were sent to the Suri government hospital,the doctors pronounced all of them including the driver, ''brought dead''. Though a case has been registered at the Mohammad Bazar police station,the identity of any of the deceased was not known,neither where they were coming from and where they were going. Though the injured Truck driver was rounded up for interrogation,he was later released by the police. Both the vehicles however,suffered huge damage,the reports said. In another incident,officials of the Special Task Force of Kolkata Police arrested one inter state drug peddler from the Basanti Expressway, on the outskirts of the city this evening and recovered about 25 grams of contraband cocaine,worth about Rs 10 lakhs in international market, from him. The youth found to be an Event Manager and a resident of Delhi came to the city yesterday to deliver the contraband to a customer, who was yet to be identified.The arrested person would be produced in Court tomorrow for his remand in jail till the completion of a probe, the police said.
