BJP demands replacement of state security adviser, Purkayastha
Kolkata, 9 April (HS): Senior BJP leader and its National Secretary Rahul Sinha here today charged Surajit Kar Purakayastha, the state security adviser in West Bengal, with being the root cause for allegedly turning the state police force in to a ''biased and crippled force''. Coming down heavily on the recent activities of several state police officials for allegedly trying to create stumbling blocks before the proposed election rallies of political heavyweights like Prime minister Narendra Modi and BJP All India President Amit Shah at Coochbehar and Darjeeling town by denying their permission without any valid reasons, Sinha said some of these officers were forced to take such decision because the instructions were, allegedly, coming from the former Director General of state Police Kar Purakayastha. Describing that Kar Purakayastha''s appointment as the chief security adviser of the state was created with mischief and not in line with the rule books since he had already retired from the police service as DG, Sinha said they would soon lodge a complaint to the election commission against Kar Purkayastha''s appointment and seeking his immediate transfer in line with the action taken against three SPs who had already been replaced by the Commission. It may be recalled that after initially denying the permission for the Prime minister''s rally at Coochbehar town on 7 April, before withdrawing the same, the district administration and the SP of Darjeeling district also denied permission to BJP Chief Amit Shah''s rally in the hill town on 11 April stating that the Chief minister was scheduled to hold a similar rally in the same ground on the same day. Like the prime minister''s rally, the Amit Shah''s rally was also given the green signal by the state police earlier. Now it remains to be seen what action the EC would take in view of the serious charges levelled against one of the senior most police officials in Bengal. Hinmdusthan Samachar/Ankur/Pramod \
