One BJP worker injured as tension flares up in Bhatpara
Kolkata,08 April(HS): At least one BJP worker was injured and his house was set on fire by a gang of armed miscreants who also ransacked the local BJP party office at Bhatpara in North 24 Parganas today setting off huge tension in the area. According to the police, soon after the announcement of the results of a No Confidence motion against the Chairman of Bhatpara Municipality Arjun Singh, who is also the BJP candidate for Barrackpore Lok Sabha seat,was announced in which Singh lost,a group of several armed miscreants, believed to be supporters of the ruling Trinamool Congress, raided the BJP office and ransacked it . Soon they also raided a nearby house of a party worker and set it on fire besides injuring the BJP worker, who was later admitted to a local hospital with multiple injuries. As the news of the attack spread, large number of BJP workers,led by Singh himself, who was busy in election campaign,rushed to the party office to examine the extent of damage. He also visited the injured party worker at the hospital and promised him all help.Later commenting on the issue,Singh alleged that a conspiracy was hatched against him to remove him from the post of the Chairman of Bhatpara Municipality with alleged ulterior motive by the ruling party.
