Army provides solar lights to remote Doda
Jammu, Apr.3 (HS): Nassir Hussain living in a remote hilly area of Bhaderwah is happy that their study is not hampered due to darkness after army came to rescue by providing 35 solar lights to the village. “There was no light in our village, we used firewood for studies and now we can study during nights as well with the help of solar lights. It’s quite useful and easy. We can also venture out in night which was not possible before due to fear of wild animals,” Nasir Hussain, a 10th standard student said.Thanala ‘Model’ village is located at an altitude of 11500 feet from sea level in the middle Himalayas is the isolated and remotest village of Bhadarwah Sub-Division but lacks basic facilities such as road and electricity due to government apathy despite declaring model village in 2005-06.“Now, we can go to ‘Namaz’ without any fear of wild animals, we never go out during nights or allowed children to venture because of wild animals fear as village as village mostly lack electricity. We are thankful to army for providing the solar street lights in our village.”Shakoor Ahmed, Sarpanch Thanala.Surrounded by high mountain peaks and thick cover forest all around, village has around 475 houses. Though provision of electricity exists here for the village yet the supply of same to the village is frequently disrupted due to harsh climatic conditions as a result the village has to live in darkness most of the time.Asgar Ali said, “We were facing problems for lack of electricity but government never solved our problem, leaders also came for votes only but army came in rescue and provided lights in our village. The solar lights have covered whole village and students can also avail its benefits for studies.”General Officer Commanding (GOC), Delta Force, Maj. General Rajiv Nanda said, “Due to damaged electricity infrastructure in village, people were facing lots of problems and on their request. We have provided 35 solar lights under Sadhbavana and we will continue to support people in need.”Hindusthan Samachar/Ranjit/Pramod \
