Three Indians among 35 killed in Nepal cyclone
Kathmandu, Apr 02 (HS): The death toll in the devastating storm that wrecked havoc in two districts of Nepal have risen to 35. There are three Indians among those killed. Parts of Bara and Parsa districts were struck by high-speed wind and lightning. More than 600 people have been injured. Relief work is being carried out by Nepal army. Most deaths have occurred due to the collapse of the walls of the houses, falling trees and falling of electric poles. The deceased include three Indians who are from Motihari and Sitamarhi of Bihar and Bareilly in Uttar Pradesh. According to the government spokesman Gyanendra Kumar Yadav, the dependents of the deceased will be given financial help of Rs 3 lakh each. Properties worth Rs 15 million have been damaged due to the storm. Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli have taken stock of the situation and inquired about the rescue operation. Nepal Army is on alert and two Mi-17 helicopters have been kept ready so that urgent army personnel may be sent to rescue operations if needed.
