Special Police Observer oversees poll preparedness in West Bengal
Kolkata, Mar 31 (HS): The Election Commission-appointed Special Police Observer, Bibek Dubey today oversaw the poll preparedness in West Bengal. Sixty candidates are in the fray for the first and second phase of elections in West Bengal. Eighteen candidates are fighting in the 1st phase of polls in Cooch Behar and Alipurduar seats going to polls on 11th of April. Forty-two candidates are contesting in the 2nd phase from Jalpiguri, Darjeeling and Raigunj constituencies on 18th of April. According to State Additional Chief Electoral Officer Sanjoy Basu, Dubey oversaw the deployment of Central and state police forces during the poll process.
