Suspected NSCN (IM) cadres kill NPP worker in Arunachal Pradesh
Itanagar, March 30 (HS): Suspected cadre of Isak-Muivah faction of the National Socialist Coucil of Nagaland (NSCN-IM) killed a National People''s Party (NPP) worker at a village in Arunachal Pradesh. According to an official source, the suspected member of the NSCN-IM assaulted Jaley Anna and his friend Kham Nai Abhi, both NPP workers, at Kheti village in Tirap district at around 10 PM on Friday.While the NPP worker died on the spot after being shot, Kham Nai Abhi has been undergoing treatment at the Assam Medical College and Hospital (AMCH) at Dibrugarh, source said The NSCN(IM) member has been identified as one Eli Kethak, a resident of Kheti village.The deceased was a supporter of NPP candidate Tirong Aboh, who is contesting from Khonsa West assembly seat.The incident happened at Kheti village in Tirap district of the state around 10 last night.A number of poll related violent incidents have been reported from various parts of the Northeast.In Arunachal Pradesh, both Lok Sabha and Assembly polls will be simultaneously held in the first phase on April 11.Meanwhile, Arunachal Pradesh unit of NPP, while condemning the incident, has urged all political parties not to involve underground elements in the electoral politics. In a press statement, the party said that some people picked the duo up to some distance from the village and beaten them badly and drop back near the village at around 10.30 pm and added Anna succumbed to the merciless beating by one Eli Ketok of NSCN (IM) and his group. Eli Ketok and Late Jaley Anna were from the same Kheti village, NPP said adding that Anna and Aboh were strong supporters of NPP’s Khonsa West candidate. In the interest of the people of Tirap, Chanlang and Londing districts in particular and Arunachal Pradesh in general, the NPP called upon all the political parties not to involve any underground elements in electoral politics “rather we should try to gain the sympathy of the people through our hard work and connectivity with the grass root people with our clear vision of state development, peace and harmony in the society”.
