Nishad Party says goodbye to SP,may ally with BJP
\RLucknow,March 30 (HS) The candidate who defeated the BJP in Gorakhpur ,chief minister Yogi Adityanath''s home turf last year in a by-election,Praveen Kumar Nishad, may contest the same seat as an NDA candidate. His victory had created a stir in political circles and become talk of the town as the seat was held by Yogi from 1998 to 2014 and was vacated to fulfill a constitutional obligation.Praveen is a member of the Nishad party which has several areas of influence in eastern part of the state but had contested on SP symbol. He was backed by the BSP and it was the first test of unity between the two parties. The victory led to further improvement in relationship between the two and forming of Mahagathbandhan. The Nishad Party had joined the alliance three days ago in the hope that it would be offered Gorakhpur seat and allowed to contest on its own symbol. Some other demands were also not acceptable to the SP.As a result the party broke away from alliance late on Friday night and met the state chief minister. The speculation is that he may ally with the BJP and contest from the same seat. It has been neither confirmed or denied till Saturday evening. The SP on its part has decided to field another Nishad caste candidate Ram Bhuwal Nishad in Gorakhpur. The caste has been also given Kanpur seat to repair the damage which might be caused due to souring of relationship with the Nishad Party and its alliance with the ruling party.HS/RN \R
