BJP lodged complaints to EC against City Mayor
Kolkata, Mar.11(HS): West Bengal state unit of BJP today lodged a formal complaint to the Election Commission against the alleged derogatory comments made by Kolkata Mayor and senior Trinamool Congress leader Firhad Hakim about the utility of the deployment of Central Para Military forces in West Bengal during the coming elections. Informing this senior BJP leader Jayprakash Majumdar who represented the party in the first All Party meeting organised by the State Chief Electoral Officer(CEO)Asif Aftab here today, later told Hindusthan Samachar that he had strongly objected to the views expressed by the city Mayor about the utility of CRPF and other Central forces during the poll in Bengal, and lodged a formal protest to the EC urging the Commission to take stern action against such derogatory comments. It may be recalled that Hakim ridiculed the EC''s decision to deploy large number of Central forces in every state, particularly in West Bengal,to ensure a fool proof and free, fair and peaceful elections, and said they also came in large number in all previous poll including at 2016 state Assembly elections, but could not do anything to change the results. ''This time also they would come for nothing for a couple of days to serve no purpose at all'',he added. Now it remains to be seen how the EC would react to such comments made by a senior TMC leader and what steps they would take to ensure a fool proof security for all voters before, during and even after the poll.
