Sensex, Nifty rises to the highest level after almost six months
New Delhi, Mar.11 (HS): After the rise in the third week of September 2018, the stock markets have reached at the highest level by today''s spurt in the market indices-Sensex and Nifty. Foreign Port-Folio Investors have continued to buy in equity markets and thereby have driven growth in India''s equity markets. This bounce in share market came in the wake of the shares of blue chip companies like Reliance Industries, ICICI Bank, Bharti Airtel, SBI and HDFC. Today, BSE Sensex has gained 1.04% or 383 points, and closed at 37,054 whereas the NSE Nifty has gained 1.2 percent, or 133 points, and closed at 11,168.According to the data collected by National Securities Depository Limited (NSDL), foreign investors invested Rs 5621 crore in the equity market during these days of March. They were also net buyers in February. IDBI Capital Research Head AK Prashadkar said that global funds are moving and flowing towards India, and so the Sensex and Nifty are rising and this will continue in the near future.Out of 19 different BSE sectors, 17 sectors gained in the leadership of 5.55 percent gain of the BSE Telecom Index. Auto, Consumer Durable, Oil Gas, Energy, Power, Metal etc.indices have risen by about 2 to 3 percent. The IT index proved to be a loser today due to apprehensions related to appreciation of rupee.Due to the widespread gains in today''s session, the S & P BSE Midcap Index increased by 1.96 percent and the BSE Smallcap index increased by 1.61percent.In the Nifty-50 stocks, Bharti Airtel proved to be the top performer with 8.42 percent growth and it rose to Rs.334.7. Hindustan Petroleum, Bharat Petroleum, Eicher Motors, Bharti Infratel, Power Grid and Coal India were also gainers. On the other hand, NTPC, Tata Consultancy Services, Zee Entertainment, HCL Technologies and Tech Mahindra were among the most notable losers.Overall, the breadth of the share market has been positive as 1756 shares gained and 897 shares declined.Hindustan Samachar /Bharati \
