Commissions formation hurried up as EC announces poll schedule
Patna, Mar 11 (HS): Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has announced appointments to various commissions and universities minutes before the Election Commission press conference on Sunday evening. Justice (retired) Samrendra Prarap Singh was appointed chairman of the state consumer protection commission. Md Yunus Hakim, was made chairman of the state minorities commission. The Bihar state university service commission which would conduct examinations and interviews for appointment of teachers in the universities got six members on Sunday. The newly appointed members have representation of both the BJP and the JDU. Ashok Kumar, a former personal secretary to deputy chief minister, Sushil Kumar Modi, is among the six members. Others are - former director of secondary education, Rajiv Prasad Singh, teacher of chemistry in Magadh University, Upendra Nath Verma, Vijay Kant Das of English department in Tilka Manjhi University, Umesh Chandra Biswas, a former special secretary in education department and Ms Usha Prasad of College of Commerce. The government also issued notifications for appointment of Devi Prasad Tiwary of Lucknow University as Vice-Chancellor of Veer Kuer Singh University and Raj Nath Verma of Sagar university as pro-vice-chancellor of Purnia University. Over 100 leaders of BJP, JDU and LJP were nominated as members of the senates and syndicates of different universities on Saturday. They include former BJP MLA, Ms Sukhda Pandey, former BJP MLC, Ms Kiran Ghai, office secretary of JDU, Navin Kumar Arya, office secretary of BJP, Arwind Kumar Singh.
