Punjab Govt to bear crores of rupees expenditure of Moga Congress rally
Chandigarh, Mar 07 (HS): Moga rally, organized on March 7, by Punjab Government, is in controversy because two days ago, the function was being announced as the rally of Punjab Congress Party, but suddenly converted a Government programme to save the crores of rupees of Congress Party. However, the expenditure of this program has not yet been compiled, but estimates show that over five crore rupees have been spent on that program, which will be withdrawn from the public exchequer. Congress President Rahul Gandhi was the Chief Guest of this programme. Interestingly, in the same matter, the State Vigilance Bureau has been probing the rally organized by the Previous Government from the State exchequer. Few days ago, the Punjab Congress leaders were busy on the preparations of this rally at village Kili Chahla in Moga District. Sources told that for that rally, the whole financial arrangements were being made by the Punjab Congress. But sudden on March 5, the Punjab Government declared it the function of State Government and officers and various departments had been told to bear the expenditure for whole arrangement. Interestingly, on December 8, 2016, during the previous Badal Government, a rally had been organized on the birthday of then Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal on the name of '' Save Water, Save Punjab'' just before the announcement of Punjab Assembly Election. It was alleged that it was political rally but to save the fund of Shiromani Akali Dal, it had been converted into the Punjab Government''s function. The Punjab Vigilance has been probing it. Sources told that gross irregularities have been found during the probe as no tenders were called for transportation, food, parking, canopy and other arrangements. Rs 5.50 crore had been spent on that programme from Public exchequer. On the dias of Moga rally, yesterday, there was giant poster in which photos of Smt Sonia Gandhi, former PM Manmohan Singh, Incharge of Punjab Congress Smt. Asha Kumari and Punjab Congress President Sunil Jakhar were printed and only ‘ Mission-13’ was mentioned, which represented 13 Lok Sabha seats of Punjab. But there was no mention of Punjab Government or photo of CM Captain Amrinder Singh. To make the shape this rally as Government rally, there was beginning of fourth phase of debt-waiver scheme. Cooperation department, Punjab Mandi Board and Agriculture Department have been assigned to bear the financial burden of this Congress rally. Sources also disclosed that the Congress had been facing financial crunch, therefore the burden has been designated on the state exchequer. Hindusthan Samachar/Narinder/Shri Ram\
