No renewal of ad hoc teachers’ appointment in March
New Delhi, Mar 05 (HS): Delhi University SC, ST, OBC teachers forum has warned that colleges under DU would face roaster problem from third week of March. The Forum cautioned that tenure of governing bodies of 28 colleges of Delhi Government is going to end soon and under such circumstances renewal of ad hoc teachers appointment would not be possible. The forum further said that after dismissal of departmental roaster review petition by the Supreme Court, the Central Government had failed to bring roaster and reservation ordinance and now there is no scope left for it as election will be notified this month. Moreover, tenure of governing bodies of 28 colleges of Delhi Government is going to end soon then how can renewal of ad hoc teachers appointment for another period of four months will be done in the third week of Mach when the University is having weekly off too. The Forum Chairman Prof. Hansraj Suman and General Secretary Prof. K.P, Singh Yadav said that after dismissal of departmental roaster review petition by the Supreme Court there is an atmosphere of fear and resentment in SC, ST and OBC teachers and they are afraid of implementation of the departmental roster anywhere. If this happens, then the new reservation formula may have a huge reduction in recruitment of SC, ST and OBC quota in the coming days. Under this formula the vacancy will be fixed department-wise and not on the basis of total vacancies. According to Prof. Suman and Prof. Yadav, ad hoc teachers who were appointed on the 200-point post-based roster and have been teaching for the last 8-10 years in small departments would be out of the system if the department-wise (rosters) is implemented from such department which is having fewer less than 7 posts. They further apprehended if department wise and subject-wise new formula is accepted, then this will not only reduce the seats of ad hoc teachers of SC, ST and OBC but also 50 percent of the teachers who are in teaching from long time on approved posts will be out of the system. They blamed that It is a deep conspiracy of the government not only against the constitutional rights of the deprived sections but to deprive them of higher education.
