Akali MP Ghubaya resigns, likely to join Congress
Chandigarh,04 March (HS):Rebel Akali MP from Ferozepur, Sher Singh Ghubaya is likely to join Congress on March 7 in Moga, where the Party president Rahul Gandhi will address a massive rally. Sources in the party, told that Ghubaya resigned today from Akali Dal after getting assurance from the Congress for ticket. In his resignation letter to SAD president Sukhbir Singh Badal, the rebel MP Ghubaya said that he was resigning from all posts of the party against the "dictatorial attitude and wrong policies of party president".On the other hand the Akali Dal claimed that he had been expelled from the Party. From the last two years the MP was on rebel mode after refusal of Assembly ticket for his son Davinder Singh Ghubaya. However he had succeeded to get Congress ticket from Fazilka Assembly constituency, from where Davinder in now MLA. Although the Shiromni Akali Dal ( SAD) had not suspended MP Ghubaya, but unofficially he was barred to attend party meetings. Akali Dal was clear on Ghubaya not to oblige him with party ticket in 2019 Parliamentary elections. But Ghubaya had been intensifying his political activities. He has been two time MLA and MP twice. He belongs to Rai-Sikh community, which dominates in Ferozepur Parliamentary constituency besides Arora-Khatari community. Talking to this Reporter, rebel MP Ghubaya told that there was no respect in Akali Dal and he was being humiliated. He told that bringing Sukhbir Singh Badal in Jalalabad constituency was his own mistake as he had been cheated. About joining another party, although he did not clarify, but sources close to him disclosed that he will join Congress on March 7 in a Congress rally at Moga, where party President Rahul Gandhi is schedule to address. Sources also revealed that Ghubaya will able to get opportunity in Congress , thanks to his son and Congress MLA Davinder Singh Ghubaya. His entry in the Congress was discussed in the month of January, when MLA Davinder Singh Ghubaya was sent to Ajmer ( Rajasthan) bye-poll for campaigning , where the Rai-sikh community also dominates. When contacted Davinder Singh Ghubaya, MLA endorsed the entry of his father in Congress and said that efforts are being done for his joining on March 7 at Moga rally.
