By Law Kumar Mishra Patna, Mar 03 (HS): Free distribution of ten tons ‘Nitish Halwa’ among 20,000 participants of the Sankalp rally marked the beginning of the day for Sunday''s event at Gandhi Maidan. ‘Nitish Halwa’ was cooked in milk, suji and dry fruits and fresh halwa was sent to 20 outlets at different places in the town in battery driven rickshwas by the JDU workers. Ranbir Nandan, MLC and treasurer of the JDU, who made arrangements for the distribution of ‘Nitish Halwa’ at 36 Hardine Road bungalow of the state JDU president, Bashistha Narain Singh, claimed lover 20,000 people who had come from different parts of the state for participating in the PM''s rally were entertained with halwa. The Hardinge Road which links to Patna airport was blocked by the JDU to accommodate the workers who reached here yesterday. Ranbir claimed that the district administration had given prior permission to block the road. To accommodate the participants, the JDU and the BJP arranged temporary shelters at their MLAs bungalows. They also booked marriage halls for them, where they were served cooked food. Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi visited Gandhi Maidan late Saturday night to give final touches to the arrangements at the Maidan. NDA has booked 18 special trains for the rally and 5000 buses with participants reached here early Sunday morning. Administration has selected over two dozen open space at different places in Patna for their parking. The Mahtama Gandhi bridge and JP bridge on the Ganga''s western and eastern flanks have been closed for traffic since Saturday evening to provide easy smooth movement for the participants. Over 15 SP rank officers and 300 magistrates have been deployed at different places in the town for security purposes. Over two dozen LED screens have been installed all over Gandhi Maidan to facilitate participants to hear and view the Prime Minister who would be addressing the rally at Gandhi Maidan first time as Prime Minister. On October 27, 2013, he had addressed the rally organised by BJP at Gandhi Maidan as PM candidate of BJP. Over a dozen people were killed in the serial explosion in the Maidan.
