Action against Jemat-e-Islami, more than 60 accounts seized
New Delhi, Mar.2 (HS): In a massive crackdown, government has seized more than 60 bank accounts belonging to Jemat-e-Islami (JeI). It is worthwhile to mention here that more than 350 enrolled members of JeI have been arrested till now. According to government order a crackdown has been imposed on JeI functionaries operating 400 schools, 350 mosques and 1000 seminaries across the state of Jammu and Kashmir. According to sources the total estimated properties these institution is having is worth Rs 4,500 cr. In order to tighten noose against the separatist activities, central home ministry had banned Jamaat-i-islami under Unlawful Activities Prevention Act on last thursday. Government has initiated this action in a fallout of an attack on CRPF convoy on 14 Feb in which more than 40 jawans were martyred. Later, an air-raid was made against terrorist infrastructure in Balkot area of Pakistan resulting in heavy causalities on Jaish-e-Mohammad training camp.
