Sushma at helm; Pak Foreign Minister decides not to attend OIC meet
New Delhi/Islamabad/Abu Dhabi, Mar 01 (HS): In the wake of External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj participating in the meeting of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) as a “guest of honour” being held today at Abu Dhabi, Pakistan Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi has decided not to attend it. Addressing the joint session of Pakistan Parliament, Qureshi said that I have no reservations with the OIC or any other Islamic country. My reservations are with Indian Foreign Minister Sushma Swaraj’s attendance at the OIC meeting. If Swaraj attends the meeting then I will not participate in it. Requesting OIC to postpone the session “in the current scenario”, Qureshi said that there is no reason for Indian Foreign Minister Sushma Swaraj to attend the meeting of the Organization of Islamic Countries. India is neither a member nor an observer of OIC. Under the current circumstances, it will not be possible for me to attend OIC meeting where Swaraj is present, he added. Swaraj has been invited as a “guest of honour” at the inaugural session of the foreign ministers’ conclave in Abu Dhabi today (March 1-2). Hindusthan Samachar/Shri Ram Shaw
