Dearness allowance of central employees increased from 12 percent to 17 percent


New Delhi, Oct 09 (HS): Before Diwali, the Modi government has given gift to the
central employees. In fact, the cabinet has approved the proposal
to increase the 5 percent daily allowance (DA) of central employees. 

this, the dearness allowance of government employees has increased from 12
percent to 17 percent. This proposal was approved in the cabinet meeting held
on Wednesday under Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

After the
meeting, Union Minister Prakash Javadekar informed about the decisions of the
cabinet. He told that the amount of increased allowance will be given from July
2019. The government's decision is expected to benefit 50 lakh central
employees and about 65 lakh pensioners. At the same time, due to this decision,
an additional burden of 16 thousand crore rupees may be incurred on the government

This is the
second time in the past year that the dearness allowance has increased. In the
last months of his first term, the Modi government had increased the dearness
allowance to employees and pensioners to 12 percent. Earlier dearness allowance
was 9 percent. Then the government had said that with this decision, the
exchequer of the country would incur an additional burden of Rs 9168.12 crore.

The decision
of the cabinet also gave relief to the farmers. Prakash Javadekar told that
farmers can give Aadhaar number for Kisan Samman Nidhi till 30 November.
Earlier this date was August 1, 2019. Under this fund, the government provides
financial assistance of six thousand rupees annually to small farmers.

Apart from
this, the salary of ASHA workers has been increased from Rs 1000 to Rs 2000.Prakash
Javadekar told that more than 31 lakh people have benefited under Ayushman
Bharat. At the same time, cards for more than 3.5 lakh families have been
issued. The Ayushman Bharat Scheme of the Central Government is applicable in
all the states except West Bengal and Delhi.
