Rahul Gandhi demands release of Mehbooba from detention under PSA.

New Delhi, Aug 02 (HS) After congress senior leader P Chidambaram, congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Sunday reiterated the demand to remove Public Safety Act (PSA) from former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti. Rahul Gandhi said that the BJP led centre government was misusing its powers by detaining Mehboobs under Public Safety Act (PSA).

He said that the detention of Mehbooba Mufti is a violation of constitutional rights of a citizen. He has demanded the release of Mehbooba Mufti, the leader of the Jammu and Kashmir People's Democratic Party.

He further said, “India's democracy was damaged when the Indian government was illegally imprisoning political leaders. Earlier, senior Congress leader P Chidambaram targeted the BJP government, saying that further increasing the detention of Mehbooba Mufti is an abuse of law. He asked how the 61-year-old former CM, who is protected by security guards round the clock, could be a threat to public safety.
