Melbourne, Aug 04 (HS) The series of three T20 matches between Australia and West Indies to be played in October this year has been postponed. Cricket Australia (CA) gave the above information on Tuesday.

CA and the West Indies Cricket Board agreed to postpone the T20 series to be held in Queensland in October. The matches were scheduled to be played on 4, 6 and 9 October in Townsville, Cairns and Gold Coast respectively.

The series was scheduled for both teams to practice before the ICC T20 World Cup, but the T20 World Cup has already been postponed due to a Corona virus epidemic.
The CA said in an official statement, "Before the T20 World Cup to be held in October (which would be in 2021 or 2022) we held a three-match T20 series against the West Indies as a practice, but now we together with West Indies cricket board have decided to postpone the series."

The International Cricket Council (ICC) had already confirmed that the T20 World Cup will not be held this year. In September, Australia will play three ODIs and three T20 matches against England. On the other hand, the West Indies have recently played a three-match Test series against England in a bio-safe environment.
