Sensex-Nifty reaches record high on first day of week.


Mumbai, Jan 13(HS): Indian markets ended at record highs today, led by gains in IT and metal stocks. The Sensex rose 258 points to a new closing high of 41,858. The Nifty settled 0.6% higher at 12,333, its first close above 12,333. Market Gains For Third Consecutive Day; Sensex & Nifty At Record Closing Highs.

During trading, the Nifty climbed to a new record of 12,337. Likewise, the Sensex has risen nearly 300 points to reach a new historical high of 41,899.63.

Infosys, Tata Steel, Wipro, ICICI Bank, IndusInd Bank, Bajaj Finance, Sun Pharma and Avenue Supermart were the leading stocks to rise, while Yes Bank, Tata Motors and Dr. Reddy's Lab were the leading losers.Yes Bank shares have fallen by 8 percent. However, the bank had assured that it would raise Rs 10,000 crore by issuing securities.
