BJP wants CBI probe in Sushant death case.

Patna, 31 July (HS)  The BJP has demanded that the Sushant Singh Rajput death mystery should be investigated by the CBI. Bihar Deputy Chief Minister and BJP leader Sushil Kumar Modi on Friday alleged the Mumbai police was not only not cooperating with the Bihar police, it was creating hurdles in the investigation.

He said Bihar police, after a case was filed by film actor’s father K K Singh with a police station in Patna, was doing its duty and a four member police team was in Mumbai to probe the case as per the charges levelled in the FIR but the Mumbai police was not allowing the investigation to go in the right direction.  “The BJP feels that this matter should be probed by the CBI,” he added.

The Supreme Court has already rejected a PIL demanding CBI probe while the Maharashtra home minister has refused to handover the case to the central agency.

Meanwhile, Bihar Director General of Police Gupteshwar Pandey on Friday held a high level meeting on this matter and inquired about the developments. The ADG, police headquarters, Inspector General of Police Patna range and Senior Superintendent of Police Patna attended the meeting and gave feedback to the DGP. Pandey gave necessary directions to the senior officials.

The Patna police team in Mumbai tried to question Rhea Chakraborty, against whom Sushant’s father has levelled serious charges, but she was not found at her residence neither her any relative was available. The team also visited some bank branches to inquire about the heavy transaction of money from the actor’s account.

Rhea, who had admitted about her live-in relationship with Sushant, has filed a petition in the Supreme Court and sought transfer of the case filed against her in Patna to Mumbai. After that Sushant’s father filed a caveat in the apex court urging that he should also be listened before giving any order.

The Bihar government has also filed a caveat in the Supreme Court supporting the plea of late actor’s father K K Singh. Bihar Advocate General Lalit Kishore said that former Attorney General of India Mukul Rohatgi would represent Bihar to oppose the plea of Rhea for transfer of case to Mumbai.

Meanwhile, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) also jumped in this high profile case after the allegations that Rhea transferred about Rs 15 crore from one bank account of Sushant by fraud. Suspecting it to be a money laundering case, the ED has sought details of the FIR from Rajiv Nagar police station in Patna where the FIR was lodged on July 26.
