Priest, 4 cops are among 8 test Covid-19 positive in Ayodhya..

Lucknow, July 31 (HS) Organizers of the Bhumi Pujan and foundation laying ceremony of the Lord Ram Temple scheduled for August 5, are upset after eight employees including an assistant priest and four policemen on duty, tested Coronavirus positive on Thursday evening. 

These eight employees, including top office-bearers of Sri Ram Janmabhoomi Teertha Kshetra Trust, were part of the teams engaged in the preparations for the upcoming Bhumi Pujan and foundation laying ceremony. A team of top officials led by State Chief Secretary R.K Tiwari, was all set to visit Ayodhya on Friday to review the ongoing preparations for the auspicious occasion on August 5. 

The Ceremony will be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. 

As many as 200 other guests including two top Industrialists- Mukesh Ambani and Gautam Adani, are scheduled to fly to Ayodhya to participate in the ceremony.

 Ayodhya District Magistrate Anuj Kumar Jha told Hindustan Samachar on Friday that these 8 employees tested positive in the antigen tests being carried out in Ayodhya district. 

"As testing is still on, the possibility of others to testing positive can not be ruled out. As part of precautionary measures, we have quarantined all eight infected persons", said a senior Ayodhya district official.

"COVID tests are being done again and again in the entire Ayodhya district and Shri Ram Janmabhoomi on Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath's directions", said the DM. 

According to officials, one employee had returned from Maharajganj after leave and had tested positive. Subsequently, all his colleagues also tested positive on July 7," said Jha.

"On July 13, as many as 98 tests were done and another person tested positive.

On Thursday rapid antigen tests were done on 100 persons out of which 4 cops and an assistant priest tested positive. "He is in isolation. It is our responsibility to ensure that the upcoming programme is COVID free," he added. 

The construction of Ram temple will begin in Ayodhya after the ceremony to lay the foundation stone in which CMs of many states, Union ministers and RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat are likely to participate.
