Trump to ban ban TikTok in U.S. earliest.

New Delhi, Aug 2 (HS) After India, now the US President Donald Trump has said that he will take action earliest to ban Chinese-owned video app TikTok from the United States.

Trump made the announcement while addressing the media on his Air Force One while he was returning from Florida recently.

The move comes as Trump has ratcheted up tensions with China during the Corona virus pandemic and stalled trade negotiations between the two nations.
“As far as TikTok is concerned, we’re banning them from the United States,” the US President said.

Asserting his statement, Trump said he could use emergency economic powers or an executive order to enforce the action, insisting, “I have that authority.”
Trump statement came on the heels of the U.S. lawmakers’ recent statement in which they had raised the intelligence and privacy concern about the company’s ownership.

Although after the development, the company has denied allegations that it shares user data with the Chinese government.The company’s operations in the U.S. has been under review by the secretive Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States.
