Patna 4 August (HS): The Bihar government on Tuesday started legal procedure for recommending CBI investigation into the death of film actor Sushant Singh Rajput.

Bihar CM Nitish Kumar said, “After the family of Sushant gave consent for this today the legal procedure for CBI probe has been initiated and recommendation will be sent to the centre today.”

He said he was in favour of CBI probe but wanted that the actor’s family should come up because it was his father who had filed an FIR with Patna police. Bihar Director General of Police Gupteshwar Pandey soke to Sushant’s father K K Singh who gave his consent for CBI probe.

“I was of the view that the government can move ahead only when the family will give its consent,” said Nitish. The CM was very upset that an IPS officer sent from here to Mumbai to monitor the case being investigated by four member Bihar police team in Mumbai, was forcibly quarantined soon after landing in Mumbai.

“This is not fair. Bihar Police was doing its job but it did not get any cooperation there which is unfair. Since an FIR was lodged here it was legal duty of police to do its responsibilities. This is highly unfortunate that the phone call of our DGP was not received by his counterpart in Mumbai,” the CM lamented.

Bihar DGP Pandey expressing happiness over the government’s move said Bihar police which has collected evidences in this case will handover everything to the central agency once its takes over the case. He said, “They can refuse to cooperate with Bihar police but they don’t have the courage to refuse CBI probe. The way Mumbai Police is behaving creates suspicion.”
