Govt to bear medical expense of woman injured in bid to save girl from molesters..

Kolkata, 8 September (HS) ; The West Bengal government today decided to bear the entire cost of the treatment of Nilanjana Chatterjee, the brave woman who suffered multiple injuries while trying to save a young woman from being molested in the city street on Sunday night

Saluting her unmatched bravery to save a young woman from being molested  inside a car without caring for her own safety, Kolkata Police Commissioner Niraj Sharma today called up Mrs Chatterjee and her family and thanked her on behalf of the entire city police force for her unmatched bravery. 

He also communicated to them the huge appreciation of Chief minister Mamata Banerjee for her bravery and the state government's decision to  bear the entire cost of her medical expenses in the hospital.

Mrs Chatterjee suffered multiple fractures in her left leg after the car in which the woman was being molested, ran over her at Anandapur area on the sourtern fringe of Kolkata on Sunday night.

Though she was admitted to a private hospital the same night, the doctors conducted a major four hour long surgery yesterday to fix her wounds.They also conducted a plastic surgery to help cover up her wounds,the hospital sources said. 

Though she vomited a number of times since yesterday, her overall condition was stable, the hospital sources said. 

At present she has been kept under a 24x7 observation at the Critical Care Unit , from where she would  be shifted to the general wards after a few days before her release next week',the hospital sources quoting her doctors told Hindusthan Samachar .

Though the police immediately swung in to action and identified and seized the car of the alleged molester, he is yet to be traced. This has led to huge public protest about the role of the police and they have been demanding  immediate arrest of the culprit and stern action against him.
