New York, Sep 01 (HS): America's young tennis player Coco Gough has been eliminated in the first round of the US Open Grand Slam. Gough was eliminated by Latvia's Anastasija Sevastova 6-3, 5-7, 6-4. With this, Sevastova registered her first win of the year.

Sevastova won her fourth match point at the Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Flushing Meadows when 16-year-old Gough hit her return shot into the net. It was disappointing for Gough to be out in the first round on her home ground.

After the match, Sevastova said, "I was just calm in the end. Somehow I managed to stay calm, and by staying there I created my chances."

She said, "I love being here, even in the bubble. I love this environment. I have had wonderful memories here for years and I finally won a match."

After losing the first set, Gough somehow  won the second set, but Sevastova made a great comeback to take the match.
