We want to give Perry every chance for selection: Flegler..

Sydney, Aug 21 (HS) Cricket Australia (CA) chief selector Shawn Flegler says he wants to give the team's star all-rounder Ellyse Perry every chance to be selected.

Perry has returned to the 18-member Australian women's cricket team for the upcoming limited overs series against New Zealand. However, her fitness will be assessed before the matches. Perry missed the T20 World Cup semi-finals and finals earlier this year due to a hamstring injury.
However, fast bowler Tayla Vlaeminck could not find a place in the team due to a leg injury.

Prior to the Women's Twenty20 World Cup in February, Tayla suffered a fracture in her leg and is now out of the home series against New Zealand and the Women's Big Bash League.

"Ellyse is well ahead of a significant hamstring injury and we want to give her every chance to be available for selection,"  Flegler said in a news release.

At the same time, he said about Tayla that the return of Tayla has came as a shock. Apart from this series, she will also not be able to participate in the Women's Big Bash League. We wanted to bring her back for the 50-over World Cup, but now that tournament has been postponed. So now we are giving her enough time to recover."

Australia and New Zealand will play a series of three ODIs and as many T20 matches. Australia defeated New Zealand 3–0 in the 2019 ODI series.
