West Bengal: Famous Shiva temple at Tarakeswar reopens after five months..

Kolkata, Sept 04 (HS) : The famous Shiva temple in West Bengal at Tarakeswar in Hooghly district has been reopened today, by strictly maintaining all Covid-19 health protocols. 

The decision to reopen the temple was taken last night at a meeting of the executive committee of the temple. The temple was closed since the beginning of the first nationwide lockdown on March 23 in the wake of the Covid -19 pandemic.
The temple committee has decided to allow only 20 people at a time  to have a 'darshan' of the main deity from a distance. Moreover, it has been made compulsory to wear face masks, sanitize hands and maintain social distancing before entering the temple premises. Also, no one would be allowed to enter the sanctum sanctorum of the temple till further orders, informed sources to Hindusthan Samachar.

The temple premises will be open for only four hours from 8 a.m. in the morning everyday for the devotees, whereas it will remain close in the evening. The entire temple premises will be sanitized twice a day, they said.      

With the reopening of Tarakeswar Shiva temple, almost all major temples in the state have now been reopened after fulfilling the Covid-19 SOPs.
