Lucknow, July 28, (HS) In another kidnapping and murder incident, an eight member joint STF and police team recovered a badly mutilated body of 14-year-old kidnapped son of a grocery shop owner Mahajan Gupta, near Canal area in Gorakhpur, on Monday.

The body of kidnapped boy Balram Gupta of was recovered around 1 pm, hours after he was kidnapped for ransom from Gorakhpur's Pipraich area.

This is the third case of kidnapping for ransom, and murder within a month after the kidnapping and murder of Kanpur based lab technician Sanjeet Yadav.

In the case of a 6- year-old boy from Gonda a week ago, police successfully managed to recover the abducted boy. Five kidnappers were also nabbed in this connection.

According to the father Mahajan Gupta, his son Balram Gupta, was abducted by an armed gang of kidnappers on Sunday when he had gone to play after closing his grocery shop at his residence in jungle Chatteradhari area.

“We have a Grocery shop in our residence that was being run by my son these days when schools are closed due to Covid-19,” said Mahajan Gupta.

According to Gupta, his family members came to know about their son's kidnapping after they received an anonymous call saying that his son was in their captivity. The caller had also demanded an amount of Rs1 crore for the release of their son.

“On this we immediately informed Gorakhpur SSP Suneel Kumar Gupta about it,” said grocery shop owner.

He said he had also lodged an FIR about his son's kidnapping for ransom in the nearest police station.

According to Gorakhpur SSP Suneel Kumar Gupta, joint teams of STF and police conducted raids at several suspected hideouts, but failed to get any clues of the whereabouts of abductors and victim. On Monday late night, they found victim's body from canal area.

SSP Gupta told Hindustan Samachar that they have managed to arrest five abductors responsible for the heinous crime.

The incident has evoked strong protests from people in Gorakhpur for state government’s failure to check the sudden rise in heinous crimes in the state.

Gorakhpur Assembly is represented by Chief Minister Yogi Aditynath.

Taking a strong exception to the incident, CM Yogi Aditya on Tuesday recommended arresting all five accused under National Security Act (NSA) and suitable disciplinary action against cops responsible for their lapses in not rescuing the kidnapped boy.

CM Yogi also released an amount of Rs.5 lakh as an ex-gratia to the next of kin of  Balram Gupta.

“I have also recommended that after the accused are arrested under NSA, they are punished suitably through fast track court,” said CM Yogi.

Meanwhile, Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi has lashed out at UP Government for its inability to control deteriorating law and order situation.

Referring to the mysterious disappearance of a Ghaziabad based trader Vikram Tyagi for over a month, in a letter sent to CM Yogi Adityanath, she said police have failed to get clues about his whereabouts.

Former UP CMs Akhilesh Yadav(SP) and Mawawati(BSP) have also criticised UP government for its failure to check crimes in the state. Senior SP leader Akhilesh Yadav has also demanded an amount of Rs 50 lakh to the next kin of deceased Balram Gupta. He also announced to pay Rs 2 lakh to the next of kin of the deceased as compensation.
