Hope will prove his ability in final Test match against England: Holder..

Manchester, July 24, (HS) West Indies captain Jeson Holder has hoped that batsman Shai Hope will score runs in the final Test match against England and prove his ability.

Hope has not done much in the last two Tests against England and so far has scored just 57 runs in four innings of the series. Hope has averaged less than 25 in Tests since scoring two centuries at Headingley three years ago. Hope scored a century in both innings of the Handigley Test against England in 2017, leading the West Indies to victory in this match chasing a target of 322 runs. After this, Hope has not been able to score a century in Test matches.

Holder said, “All our players have my full support, they know how I feel personally. Some of them are not getting the runs they are looking for but Hope is trying his 100 percent. We all know what Hope can do at this level. He is one of the best one-day batsmen in the world.”

He added, “We know what Hope can do, so I am confident that Hope will score runs in the final Test match. He is still a beginner, but he is not able to take it too far. Hopefully in the third Test, he will be able to take his innings far, so he has my full support.”

Earlier, West Indies coach Phil Simmons also admitted that he was worried about Hope and John Campbell's batting form. Both teams are tied 1–1 in the three-match Test series.
